Taming in Atlas is the mechanic whereby players can tame and befriend some of the creatures of the world. Creatures can be found in their logical regions and gain bonuses from being kept in their natural Biomes, although they can be transported on Ships to far off lands if desired.

Taming Creatures in Atlas
Different Creatures require different taming methods, and all have their own favorite food which will need to be sourced in order to tame them.
Some Creatures are aggressive and will attack the player on sight, while others will flee, and still others will ignore players until they are bothered, at which point they will defend themselves. Different behaviors need to be dealt with differently: some may require a little more thought or planning to snare and befriend!
Passive Taming
Passive or non-violent taming refers to a method by which the player can tame a creature by simply following it around and feeding it its favorite foods. To tame passive-tame Creatures in Atlas players must place the Taming food in the last slot of their hotbar, sneak up close to the creature and press E. A Taming Progress bar will appear under the creature's UI box, along with a cooldown timer for the next feeding. Repeat this process until the progress bar is filled and the Creature will be tamed!
The level and species of the creature will determine how many feedings are required to tame it.
Examples of Creatures which can be passive-tamed in Atlas MMO Game are the Rabbit, Chicken, Cow and Monkey.
Bola Taming
Bola (or Violent) Taming involves lowering the creature's health until it is able to be trapped using a Bola - usually once the creature's health bar is down to the orange portion. Players can double check if the creature is trappable by equipping the Bola from the hotbar and aiming it at the creature - if it displays 'Trappable' in green text it's good to go. Once the animal is sufficiently injured, players can hold down Left-Click to whirl the Bola and release it when ready to let fly at the animal. Once the animal is trapped, the player can get close to it and press E with the appropriate food in the last slot of the hotbar (just like Passive Taming) to feed it, again triggering a Taming Progress bar and a feeding cooldown timer.
Animals trapped with a Bola will also display a timer with the text 'Bola escape in: MM:SS'. Once this timer runs down to nothing the creature will break out of the Bola and recover roughly half of its health. The player must then again deal damage to the creature until it is once again trappable and repeat the process. Depending on the level and species of the creature the player may have to repeat this more times than others, but eventually the progress bar will fill and the creature will be tamed.
It may be advisable to build a temporary Taming Pen or Trap using Structures to keep the animal in one place while it is tamed, to make it easier to lower its health, to bola it, and to prevent other creatures getting involved and making things more complicated.
Examples of Creatures which can be Bola-tamed in Atlas MMO Game are the Wolf, Lion, Horse, Elephant, Rhinoceros and Bear.
